TAKE HOME A PIECE OF THE IDYLWYLDE

In preparation for the Idylwylde's 100th anniversary, the centennial committee with the support of the Men’s Invitational Committee has commissioned a local artist to create a piece of artwork that commemorates the timeless charm of the Idylwylde's landscape. Prints of the painting are available for members to purchase with the proceeds going towards the Club's centennial celebration scheduled to take place in August. Painting of the 13th hole

' Timeless '

Here, the depiction of a warm early evening in May, the week before the Idylwylde Golf Course opens for the season. The sun almost ethereally backlights the trees, just below the horizon, sending spotlights onto the fairway, sand trap, and the green's apron.

Golf is a timeless game, so the pin on the Idylwylde's 13th Hole, and this green resembling a clockface will proudly stand as a landmark-even after the smokestack disappears. Its sculpted imprint will forever leave its mark on memory and landscape.

You'll know the time of day by the sun dial created by the flag, and by facing north. This shadow tells us it's just after 8:00pm. Tomorrow will be another beautiful day.

About The Artist

Frances Crossan Blanchard is a contemporary artist who is a dual citizen of both Canada and Ireland.

Her cottage art studio by the sea in Spanish Point, County Clare- which has been in her family for centuries in addition to the landscape of Northern Ontario, provides a constant source of inspiration for her paintings.

Frances’ graphic arts and design training at Cambrian College in Sudbury have influenced the storytelling aspect that finds its way through each piece she paints. Each one of Frances' paintings conveys a sense of peace, as well as offers viewers a bit of an escape from their everyday worries.

No stranger to depicting stunning golf course landscapes, Frances has completed paintings for the likes of Spanish point Golf Club and for the Lahinch Art Gallery of the Lahinch Golf Club. Which only solidifies her as the ideal candidate to create this piece for the Idylwylde.
